Fonseca 1960 75cl
"Interesting mature fruit flavours, but drying
on the finish now. Medium to light red, floral nose, medium-bodied,
with floral and berry flavours, light tannins and a short
finish. Still quite hard but it may be fading quickly."
James Suckling, Vintage Port
|
The opposite to 1960 in France: a good vintage. Harvest
began in a heatwave, endend in rain - difficult weather
in which to control fermentation. A satisfactory, midlle
of the road vintage, generally well balanced and developing
well. |

Fonseca 1980 75cl
" Medium to medium full-colour. Hints of maturity
now, pretty but uncomplicated fruit. This is even in 1980
terms a bit slight, too much like a 1975.Perhaps the weakest,
the most disappointing of all Fonseca´s, only average.
Already ready." James Suckling, Vintage Port

The Winter of 79/80 was one of the driest on record.
The grapes were healty and envenly matured with high but
not excessive sugar levels. In spite of some rapid fermentations
early in this Vintage, the must showed excellent colour
and body. |

Fonseca 1982 Vintage Port 75cl |
The "Guimaraens" bottling signifies a vintage
port that was not officially 'declared'. Pretty dark,
soft pleasant and smooth. Lots of acidity. |
|
Fonseca 1983 Vintage Port 75cl
"Magnificentely scented, full bodied, creamy
rather forward but showing great lenght and character."
Robert Parker, Wine Guide |
The Winter of 1982/83 was marked by extreme cold weather
in February, when snow fell in Pinhão for the first
time in 20 years. The fruit ripened quickly and maturation
was practically complete by the end of September. |
 |
Fonseca 1984 75cl
"… showed a deep brick -red color. After
sniffing a closed, fruitcake nose, the taster found the
palate very intense, fruity and balanced with its spirit
harmoniously integrated. Great potential for long ageing

Fonseca Porto Guimaraens Vintage Wooden Box 1986
"Tigh, hard and closed at this stage, but it
has very good potential. Inky black-purple with aromas
of perfume and grapes, full-bodied, with tons of tannins
and medium berry flavours.
James Suckling, Vintage Port |

Fonseca Vintage Port 1985
" Full bodied, powerful, still opaque; soft,
sweet fleshy, well endowed with fruit, alcohol and tannin
for longevity. My style of wine, magnificent."
Michael Broadbent, The Great Vintage Wine Book

onseca picked earlier than most other Shippers, and
the harvest was brought in under ideal conditions before
the rain, which fell later in the month of September,
conditions were ideal for fermentation resulting in must
of exceptional colour and weigh |

Martinez Crusted Port 1985
"A burly wine with muscles. Deep, dark ruby,
with concentrated cherry aromas, full-bodied
and tightly structured, with ripe tannins and rich cherry
and earth flavors. " |

Taylor's 10 year old Tawny
Port 75cl & 37.5cl |
An exceptionally fine old tawny blend,
aged for an average of 10 years in oak casks. Elegant

Taylor 10 Year Old Tawny is delicious served lightly
chilled at the end of the meal.

Taylor's 20 year old Wooden Box with
Two Glasses 75cl |
Another magnificent and finely-balanced tawny of outstanding
richness and complexity. The additional ten years of aging
produces a fine balance between the rich, raisiny fruit
and the nutty, honeyed finish - a taste to linger over.
This rare port is traditionally enjoyed as a dessert wine
or at the end of the meal. |

Taylor's created the Late Bottled Vintage
style of port and is not only acknowledged to be its
finest producer, but remains the international brand
leader. Blended from wines of a single year, LBV ages
from four to six years in cask and is ready to drink
when bottled. Its concentrated fruity flavor and firm,
full-bodied style make Taylor’s LBV the perfect
port to accompany chocolate desserts, and blue cheeses
such as Stilton or Roquefort.
